UNLESS YOU ARE UNABLE TO GET OUR BROADBAND SERVICE YOU WOULD BE FOOLHARDY IN THE EXTREME TO OPT FOR OUR SURFTIME PACKAGES. (See: Solis Broadband) About Surftime prices and 'anytime'. Although this range of services offers outstanding value for money and could potentially save a significant amount of money each month, it is important to realise that 'anytime' doesn't necessarily mean 'all of the time'. In other words, even with our 'Gold' account, it is possible to connect and stay connected - pretty much forever, however, due to the way the internet works with dial-up lines, this effectively takes out one line from our pool and is wasteful. We therefore expect customers to use the 'anytime' responsibly and although you could stay connected permanently, we'd ask that you don't. This is called 'contention' and we strive to ensure that there are enough circuits for all customers on a 'fair' basis. The SurfTime package is not suitable for hosting services at the client end. This means that customers intending to make services such as web servers available should not opt for a SurfTime package. How does it work? Provided you have a BT fixed telephone or ISDN or ‘Highway’ line you can add SurfTime by contacting BT and asking them to add this to your service. You will then need to open a SurfTime account with us, or upgrade your current account. You then change the number you dial to 0844 040 4147 and say goodbye to internet call charges forever! ALL existing unlimited access account customers can already use our SurfTime number during the evenings and at weekends without having to upgrade their account! Simply ask BT to add SurfTime Evenings and Weekends to your account. Please use our Calculator to check if you'll save money first! Will it really save you money? Probably, but not necessarily. Obviously those with very high usage will immediately benefit, however infrequent low users and those who only transfer small amounts of data and email may very well be better off keeping their existing account. We have put together a range of products under the SurfTime service which we hope will address all needs. You should do some basic calculations after looking through your itemised telephone bills to see which product best suits your needs. Remember, with SurfTime you pay us and BT. If you add together what you pay us and BT for SurfTime and it’s more than you currently pay in internet call charges, SurfTime isn’t good economical sense. To help you work this out, we've written a little guide to help you make the calculation. What are the limitations? You will notice that the service is not as fast or reliable as our standard services. This is pretty much out of our control as we do not terminate your call directly. You can also only use single channel ISDN as it’s not possible to bind two incoming ISDN calls together. Finally, SMTP incoming mail delivery is not fully supported, although we do have a workaround for this. These limitations are not just an issue for Solis and will affect all UK ISPs. BT have two SurfTime offerings. What's the difference and which is best for you? Before you can use our SurfTime service you need to have BT add SurfTime access to your account with them. BT currently have two options: In theory you should be able to add the BT evenings and weekends service and only pay 1p per minute if dialling into our SurfTime number during peak periods, however, we have no control over this and our services detailed below are really tailored toward the BT Anytime provision. |

| * The 60 hour period is not a hard limit - customers will still be able to connect via the SurfTime number once this level has been exceeded. This allowance has been set in order to give all Solis SurfTime Bronze and Silver users a fair and equal share of port capacity during 'Peak' hours. Customers regularly exceeding this allowance, or exceeding it by a reasonable margin in one calendar month, will be required to upgrade to the Solis SurfTime Gold package, or reduce usage. |
